WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Scott Rolen robbed Eric Young of a base hit.

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Detroit Iron Gloves rallied to top Caracas Leones by the score of 4 to
2.

Detroit had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs
using 3 hits. Scott Rolen got things going when he took charge himself,
delivering a solo home run (his 3rd of the season). Jacque Jones came next
and he laced a base-hit. Rondell White followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Tino Martinez was up next and he popped a two-run clout over the
fence (his 4th of the season) giving Detroit the victory as 30,922 happy fans
celebrated wildly. Caracas had 10 hits in the game while Detroit had 5, but
Detroit had the more timely hits.

Francisco Rodriguez(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and
allowing no runs. Billy Wagner(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.

Mike Wilson was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked
about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered,
'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Alan Dyche, feels right
now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short
end of one of these!'
